Marty Allen was born in Australia 1968. He started to make his own surfboards at the young age of 15 to use for himself, Marty quickly found a passion in the sport and in the craft of building them. While growing up surfing on the Tweed Coast of New South Wales, Australia Marty joined the Snapper Rocks Board Riders Club.
During his involvement with the club, Marty competed in many contests while developing a passion for shaping. He designed boards for his mates and some some of the most well known Gold Coast surfers such as Shane Bevan, Alby Ross, Trevor Gleeve, Dean Bevan, Dave Davison, Jason Galey, Jeremy Biles, and Jay Phillips to name a few. Marty then left the club to travel the world to surf and broaden his shaping capabilities.
Surfing the worlds #1 destinations Marty pursued the opportunity to learn and shape along side many well know shapers from Hawaii’s Mark Angel, long board pioneer Wayne Miyada, to California’s flamboyant Dennis Garvis owner of Spyder surfboards, while also ghost shaping for Rusty’s surfboards. For the last 15 years Marty has managed to maintain himself out of both the Southern Coast of California and the Tweed Coast of Australia. Living in Southern California Marty had the opportunity to shape and develop surfboards for some of the youngest hottest crew on the coast to the pioneers of the California and Mexico coast lines.
Having spent the last 7 years working side by side with Javier Huaraya-Pro, Marty is happy to be able to bring the best technology to hit surfing back to his home break. Tucked up in the bush of Cudgen is where you will find the MAD scientist, often at odd hours. Staying true to the love of the craft Marty is involved from the beginning to the end. The 25 years of world experience has taught Marty what is available, what is worth trying and what you just need to stick with. Having shaped over 15,000 boards world wide Marty is just beginning.
